Principle Hope, Manifesta 7, in front of the exhibition venue Ex-Peterlini, Rovereto, Italy.

Intrigued by the dense history of female labour in the Rovereto region, we produced two works relating to this macro-topic for Manifesta 7: the music video Caregivers and the public installation Uterus Flags.

This work has been exhibited in public spaces in various European cities. The flags, in different colour combinations – referencing heraldry, party flags and feminist iconography – bear silhouettes of the female sexual organs; uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries and vagina.
