Bosbolobosboco #4, (Jacqueline‘s story)

Audio sculpture: Wood, screws, textiles, carton, transparent cello-tape, audio recording of an autobiographic storytelling, amplifier/headphone-distributor, four headphones and cables.

55 min

Recorded in Rotterdam in 2004 (and previously used in the work Wir wünschen Ihnen einen angenehmen Aufenthalt) this narrative is the story of a woman from Sierra Leone; an undocumented asylum seeker now living in Rotterdam. Her Odyssey starts in Africa, where she worked as a hairdresser before having to escape the disaster of civil war in her country and the rebels who held her captive. Ultimately, she ended up in Europe in a completely insecure and precarious situation. In 2006 she was still fighting for her right to asylum in the Netherlands after more than three years—with aids, cancer and a new-born baby.
